It is a home for aged old, especially for those who have no near and dear ones in Mumbai. There are two separate Wings – one for Gents and one for Ladies both as Dormitory residents as well as private rooms residents. For the aged, it is bounteous in the evening of their lives where they are taken care of not only by providing the roof over their head but personally caring with a provision of nutritious diet and a very healthy and clean and hygienic environment.

In reality an Old Age Home. Admission only to those who have completed 60 years and above. It has a neat, clean and pollution free environment.

Two types of facility:
(1) Special Rooms.
(2) Dormitory.

Parukh Dharamshala has capacity of 110 out of which Dormitory 81, Private Rooms – Ladies 8 and Gents 21.

For Special Rooms, the charges are Rs.6,500/- p.m. which includes daily breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. A point to be noted, that the food is nourished. Rs.70/- are charged as Laundry Charges and in case of exclusive TV at a concessional rate of Rs.80/- per month.

At the time of entry in the Special Room, the whitewash charges would have to be borne by the incoming resident and the minimum furniture such as a small table, cupboard etc., are to be brought by the residents.

Dormitory residents are charged as per their financial status, but certainly extremely less than the Special Rooms. For free gents residents even haircuts and shaving costs are picked up by the Bombay Parsi Punchayet.

In case of Special Rooms, the medicines are on the account of the residents whereas in case of dormitory, they are on the Bombay Parsi Punchayet account.

In a common room, there are indoor games like carom, cards, viewing TV programmes etc.

There are many occasion of events when the residents not only are entertained but are spoilt by gourmet such as New Years’ etc., including receipts of gifts from the Donors.

There are two Wings one for the gents and one for the ladies. There are separate lifts in each Wing.

The residents are free to go out but they should be present during breakfast, lunch and dinner time as beyond the specified time nothing would be served. The family members are allowed to take the residents for a few days during wedding etc., in the family.

In case of need, even hospitalization is arranged.

For each resident a Guarantor is a must as a back-up, in case of grave sickness etc.

There is a competent Staff of Manager, Assistant Manager, Nurses, Ayahs and Ward-boys, physiotherapist and a doctor who visits weekly or so, for normal sickness.

The residents are required to observe cleanliness, behave in a dignified manner and be punctual in observing the food timings.

Residents can apply even from upcountry as well.
